    Default Wiper problem!

Bought a Veccy C a few weeks back and just noticed the 3rd speed setting on the front wipers doesnt seem to work! It hasnt been a problem so far but i can see if being an issue when im on the motorway in heavy down pour.

The lower and middle settings work just fine but when cracking the stalk up to full speed the wipers just park where ever they are positioned at the time?

    Any ideas?

Car has 3 months garage guarentee and 12 months AA warranty? Can i fix this myself or does it need to go back to the garage?

motor dead on that setting... only solution is to replace the wiper motor. Had it and it's way cheaper to buy the linkages with the motor used than just buying a new motor and having to deal with setting the linkages right so it wipes properly. The wiper motor can be fixed providing you know how to solder but it's way more hassle than just replacing the whole system especially with the linkages being prone to ware. A good used setup is way easier to just drop in and watch the lot working properly again...

PS getting the old linkages and motor out best be careful to not crack the windscreen as it's a really tight fit and only comes out one way.

If it’s covered by the “COVER” then just take it back and get it sorted.

Unfortunately I've already replaced it with one from scrappy but nothing changed.
Checked fuses and relays, everything's Ok.
One of my friends suggested CIM, but nothing appears on Op-Com for a regular scanning for error codes...and never had errors CIM related. I'll study it moreover as my friend suggested and offered to give a hand, being more experimented with Op-Com capabilities...
I know about the solder trick for motor, but I think it is meant for parking position issues which is not my case: for automatic and 1st speed parking and functioning are Ok.
As far as I studied internals and electric construction of the motor I strongly believe it cannot be a motor related issue otherwise 1st speed wouldn't work too.

@bibu16v it's not CIM in your case but the stalk itself... remove it and clean it than test it. If it doesn't work replace the wiper stalk.. imho get a new one as used ones will not last or might be beyond cleaning and new they aren't that expensive anyway. There is a how2 on how too remove the stalk from the base I suggest you use that as brute force will pull it out but chances are you might break it.

It could be, it crossed my mind. But it was on my check list anyway as a last resort...thx.

It isn't about CIM or stalk!
2 different persons, one from a dedicated FB group and another from romanian dedicated Opel forum, almost the same time, suggested a problem with fuse FE22, 30A, from UEC: it's missing, literally! Checked and confirmed!!!
How does that happened? I have a rather vague but unique idea: several month ago had a problem with a fuse from UEC and, most probably, I have misspositioned the said fuse, solving a problem, but generating another one. Because I almost never use full-speed I didn't even notice it's faulty...But in the last days of December I've made a trip to England, for winter holidays and as you know, probably, it was very rainy days (surprisingly, isn't it?!) and driving on motorway at full legal speed near first lane full of trucks/lorries(oh, my god, there were moments I thought even a very busy highway from Germany is far more easy in comparison with the english version!) I felt like needing full speed of wipers. Really! Surprise-surprise! Broken. I was forced to reduce car's speed to the limit the wiper's first speed coped the amount of water coming from all over. Anyway driving in UK, for the first time, in the night, is an experience, unique in its own way...but all was good eventually. Another story to tell.

wait.. what you removed a fuse and didn't replace it? that is just not the smartest thing to do!
@OP check the fuses... if F22 is burned or empty replace it. If that is filled and fine either burned out motor connection (that is what mine had) or a dirty stalk connection.

Yes, you're right unfortunately...not proud to say it, but sad reality: few months ago I had a blown fuse(not FE22, another one) and long story short I solved it, but misplaced fuse FE22 probably in the next free position.
Now everything's fine, FE22 filled with a 30A fuse, wiper's 2nd speed is up and working.
    Thx for advices!
