With all the talk of banning aftermarket HID kits, perhaps this could be the catalyst for a rethink?

no. Thats about xenons not hids. Xenons are cracking bits of kit
i very much doubt it, thats standard xenons they are talking about there, with all the right kit fitted, nothing about aftermarket hid kits
Agreed this news story releates directly to Xenons, but the general arguement is for better headlights. So to that end it could possibly in the future include HIDs.
Errrr
Xenons are HID. HID are Xenon.
Yup, have to agree.
HID lamps work by passing an electric arc through ironized xenon gas to give the bright white light. Whenever xenon lamps were refered to in the past in industry, the reference has always ment xenon arc lamps.
The waters have been muddied a little with manufacturers of halogen filement lamps using the word xenon on there packaging to promote the idea the standard lamp gives of a more xenon like white light, sometimes also claiming a % of the lamps gas is xenon.
The article is clearly refering to xenon arc lamps when they discuss " Xenon upgrade kits that deliver some 300% more light"
For everytime a new HID thread is started, the OP should put £1 in a box.
High intensity discharge lamps are filled with Xenon gas are they not? Hence what others are saying.
