    Default abs sensor

    getting a fault code

c0040-06 front right wheel speed sensor circuit open or low voltage

does the abs sensor come separate or as part of the hub as a whole unit?

i had this , its the little 2 pin white plug thats corroded , I got one off ebay that was cut above the 2 pin connector and grafted it on and the taped it all up, cleared the faults now all ABS working fine without light on .
hope this narrows it down a bit for you mate .

I just found someone breaking a vec and pm'd them for the abs harness but not the whole thing just the section from a few inches above the connector to the plug on the hub . There were a few not willin to cut it but it's a job replacing all the harness . Good luck :-)

just checked the sensor now and all plugs look nice clean and shiny

checked the sensor resistance by unplugging it from the main loom (2 pins on voltmeter) and im getting infinite resistance (open circuit), is this the right way to test the sensor??

hiya pal, not sure if your aware but abs sensors work on a prinicble of a of halls generator, the wheel needs to be turning at a speed of about 5 mile an hour for the system to work, so idivindually checking the sensors wont help, my advice is trust the code and change the sensor on the wheel it tells you to.
    hope that helps

forgot to mention its unlikely to be your abs ring, and if it is you will be able to see damage to it, check your air gap first (distance from sensore to abs ring), and security of speed sensor,

Disconnect the sensor and put a meter across the pins from the sensor and select volts on the meter.

You should see a voltage as you turn the wheel going between about 0.5v and 4.5v.

And the ABS is sealed inside the hub (As you can see below) so no sensor to see or check apart from any damage to the wires coming from the hub itself.
