    Default Arghhh!

    I give up with cars!

So recently ive spent my time doing constructive stuff to the Vectra - had the timing chain checked, serviced etc and got some mods ready to go in! Plans for next year are front end respray to get rid of stone chips, and Eibachs and light rear tints (should look well on a black sapphire sri!)

Ordered a TC switch, sunglasses holder and bracket, and rear interior light and picked up my lovely vauxhall carrier bag full of goodies ready to fit to my very dirty car...

Sadly last night on the way home from work a Peugeot 306 decided it might be a good idea to reshape my rear bumper for me

Hopefully going through insurance and its hopefully just a bumper and left hand rear lamp. Thing that annoys me is all the hassle that goes with it, my insurance company are now dithering about trying to establish liability before they instruct a claim management company (as im only TPFT!), ive then got to get the car booked in and hopefully repaired.

Do these cars do much damage when they are hit in the rear? Was only a 5-10mph collision and the bumpers only cracked but is completely twisted so it sticks out on the OSR.

Better not write it off! lol

    Sorry to hear that mate

I would of thought it has done too much damage at that speed but I guess you never know until you have it looked at.

Just remember you have the right to have it repaired where ever you like not just where the insurance company wants you to go (which is normally to a bunch of cowboys)

Fingers crossed however the rear bumper retails at Vauxhall for £379! So we shall see. The bodyshop I took it too today are confident it wont be written off and could possibly even salvage the rear bumper but Id rather have a new one fitted as long as it doesnt push it over...

Perfect opportunity to get the front end sprayed while im at it! Im getting it done at my work - at least that way its under my watchful eye lol ive seen some right dodgy repairs at other bodyshops lol.

Oh and btw while I think about it is there are choice on SRi rear lamps? Mine are really dark but others ive seen are almost grey?

    Cheers

Saved me about £500 dude - my view on it is if im stupid enough to crash my car then i gotta pay for it

I drive sensibly enough so in theory an accident should never happen.... In an ideal world lol

Theyve admitted liability finally so I can go about getting repairs sorted.

Either way if they right it off ill buy it back myself. As long as the shell isnt damaged you can get a bumper beam off ebay for about £40 and a bumper for £100ish... Sorted lol.
