The lady on the other end of the phone did say that the Vectra can be problamatic with HID'S but 90% of the time they are ok she also said that some very rare needed tech 2 has anybody else had this problem

Yup, N/S is very easy just lift up the battery box cover for access and the O/S you would be best taking out the airbox then you will have plenty of room to play with.

They are just plug & play, but you will need to cut a hole out of your headlight bulb cover for the cables to go through. Did you order the cancellers with the set as this stops the Headlight Bulb Warning from activating?

Some cars need them, I purchased a set for my old Veccy and can't remember if they had them but the ones I have at the moment do have the cancellers as part of the system.

I shall remove them from the circuit and see if they still work ok without them, give me 15 minutes.

I seem to recall a few threads many months ago that slated HIDS Direct for poor aftersales support when products didn't work and the time it took to resolve the issues.

All seems to be sorted now and it wouldn't stop me ordering from them.

Funny how some companies are fine one minute, then really bad and then back to good.

    Right, the definitive answer:

Cancelers are NOT needed on a 06 Facelift 1.8 VVTi SRI Nav. I fitted the HID Set I removed from when I had retro fitted them to my previous Volvo V50 and they did need them to work.
However, I have just removed BOTH cancelers from the system I fitted in my Vectra and they still work perfect without and bulb warnings etc. You should be fine but just one thing, I have ripped a big gash in my finger now taking out my airbox Ouch!!!
