Default No Battery and key doesnt fit, how to get into the car/ wheres the altenator.

Hi all, im at a bit of a dilemma! My vectra 2.2 DTI 52 plate has ran flat and i cannot open the car with the fob and they key does not fit the boot or driver door .

I have had a look on google and it appears a battery charger connected to the alternator will give the car enough power to unlock it, thus allowing me to open the bonnet. Can anyone help in regards to the alternator location please? can it be accessed under the car?

Any help in how to access the car would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks

How have you ended up with a key that does not fit the lock?
Does yours really have a lock on the boot?
Have you never tested the manual lock?

The lock code should appear on the passcard
Arrange for a replacement key from the dealership (phone them in advance to check what documents they require you to take)

You could access the alternator under the car
Would be easier just to smash (snap with a pair of pliers) the grille, then open the bonnet
However this may set the alarm off (backup powered)

very strange that your key dont fit, sometimes the lock gets jammed with gunk along with grease from the lock, spray some wd40 into the lock and use the key to rake it out keep spraying wd40 it mite work , the locks get stiff when they are only opened with the remote, you should use your key manually from time to time.

My drivers door lock cannot be opened by the key, but the boot can.
And I have got in via the boot once before.
Yes early Vec C's have a manual lock on the boot and drivers door.

Also many years ago the RAC got me into an Astra by putting power to one of the two connections on the reversing light switch plug on the gearbox, he said this was the easiest way on that car to do it.

The alternator on the DTi is quite high at the rear of the engine on the drivers side, and you will need to jack the car up to reach it.
As others have said, it might be easier to pop the bonnnet via the front grill.
    Good luck anyway.

I'm guessing the locks may have been changed and the key was not passed to me when i purchased the car.

Is the alternator accessible form under the car? any idea where?

    Thanks

WD40 in the locks would be the first thing I'd try. I had the same issue when I changed the remote batteries for the first time and the keys lost sync with the car. I put the key in the lock and it wouldn't turn as the lock had probably never been used and so had seized up after 4+ years. WD40 (quite a lot) sorted it out and I check them every so often now just in case...
