    Default Nearside heated mirror failed

As far as I am aware this was working last week, so looks like the cold weather last night has taken its toll on the heating element (and the heavy use over the last few weeks)
It's the first one I have ever had fail

    It's rather dark outside now

Presumably it is easy enough to release the mirror?
Is it worth checking the element, or just bin it?

Finally, can anyone get me a part number for this (and rough retail price)

Your best bet is to get one off ebay. The mirror comes off just by pushing the edge of the glass.

I don't buy any car parts from eBay UK and only use OE parts on my car
I've been stung in the past, never again

I've replaced a broken glass before, so good to know the clip mechanism will be similar

Only costs a tenner from ebay it's not a piggy bank breaker.

But check you have a 12v feed when the rear screen is on and that the element has actually gone with a continuity test on it first.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Even if it was £1, I still wouldn't buy from eBay UK, false economy

Still need part number so that I can phone up dealership and get availability with ease (otherwise will take about 20 minutes)

Mine is from ebay still working, false economy buying at a daft price. But hey if that's your idea of how economy works by all means.

Ordered from my local dealership, £8.65 plus VAT including delivery later this afternoon (as they are visiting a local garage with other parts)
