    Default Exhaust Bracket Weld?

Morning all, start my new job this morning and notice yesterday evening that the mounting bracket on the right hand rear box on my 2.2 Direct Signum exhaust had corroded through and failed. So box was hanging down by 6inches.

Have patched up with wire to get me to work today, but question is, can this be welded back on as exhaust is fine apart from this?

Also who to go to; independent garage or exhaust fitters? If it is possible what do people think price would be?

    Thanks.

I had the same problem, My vectra C failed an MOT at Kwikfit and they wanted to replace the entire exhaust. I took it to a back street garage and they welded the brackets back on for £20.

I am a welder by trade and exhaust boxes can be welded, no probs.
In fact, did mine a couple of weeks ago.
I fit a new S/S tail pipe and dropped the box a bit.
You see, the mig welder makes life very easy...

I just used some new exhaust 'U' clamps and welded some bar onto them and bent them to suit.

Went to kwik fit yesterday and the guy replaced both my brackets for £10 cash. I was very surprised, thought they were going to try it on saying I needed stuff replaced but he told me for a stainless steal system it been made very well.

I had a similar problem just before my MOT back in July. Got 1 of the guys at the workshop where i'm based to weld the hangers back on. Sailed through the MOT & the repair only cost me a tenner!
