    Default Tailgate wiring harness

    Hi all
Has anyone had to remove the tailgate wiring harness. I need to change my tailgate as it was damaged and i have a replacement. It looks like there are no connecters in the har ness and that it connects directly to the REC and that i will have to thread the harness backwards through the tailgate. Can someone confirm this please.

    Oh and its a hatchback.

    hi m8

the tailgate harness runs down to the rec that can be un plugged from there
but im sure theres also connectors behind the tailgate trim in the top corner
as it comes into the tailgate from the bodyside.

    Thanks for the reply Andy.
I had a quick look yesterday and couldn't see any connecters but will have another look during the week.

yes there are connectores and you will have to take the one apart to get it through....

But it all runs to the REC.. no where else.

Sorry i misread your post... its 1 harness.. and you will have to feed it from the car to the tailgate to get it out.. (cant get it the other way) also note that you will have to remove the pipe from the rear screen wash.

Most clips will break when you remove it.. as you just cant get to them when the rear screen is mounted to the tailgate.

    Hi all
    Finally replaced my tailgate yesterday.
Once the trim has been removed there are two multi-pin connectors near the
wiper motor. Unclip these and you can feed them back up to the top. On the replacement tailgate i fed some wire through then taped connectors to this.
A bit fiddily but came through ok. Very pleased with the outcome colour match is superb it looks like the original.
