Default 2004 Y20DTH headlights, instrumt lights, radio, airco,.. flickering !

    Dear Vectra-c users,

    I have (again) a big problem with my 2004 Vectra-c 2.0DTI.
    Everything flickers
When I start my car or when I'm driving, everything flickers at the same time.
So it happens that my headlights start to dim, also the lights in the middle console, the radio just stops working, and the airco shuts down. It doesn't last long. So far the headlights didn't dim completely, luckily

For the moment, one dim light is dead.
I've read out the car and it carry's fault code:

B2652-05 Instrument dimming bulb output circuit open or low voltage

As everything is failing I probably suspect some main relay that has a bad contact maybe? What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance,

Sounds like your alternator is failing.

Agreed, sounds like either the alternator reaching the end of its life or the auxiliary belt needs replaced
Does the battery warning light flicker or come on?

Nope, no battery warnings. I've monitored the battery voltage during riding, and it is at a steady 13.1V.

Agreed, the car is running straight off the battery, so it won't last long

On the plus side it is a diesel, so there won't be much drain once the engine is running
However on starting (especially in the cold) will drain the battery whilst the glowplugs operate

    Ahaaaa !
    Found it !

When I was changing the dim light, my ears noticed a hissing sound coming from underneath the battery warpping...

Somehow, the bolt that bolted the mass cable to the battery connector has loosened a bit. As I can see from the battery wrapping, there was a little fire there... I've fastened the bolt now. I think the problem is solved now

    Anyhow,
lots of thanks for the input !!
