Default Dip-Beam Lights - Both stopped working

    The car is a 53-plate pre-face Active.
It's got standard halogens for both dipped and full beam.
The problem is neither dip bulbs come on, though side-lights and main beam all work.

The bulb warning light was already on as one of the rear lights blew a while ago (Never bothered with it as there's another one on that side that does work).

I changed one of the bulbs, didn't do anything, I also checked and swapped the fuse in F8 under the bonnet, no difference.

What could be the cause of this? We're starting to wander if there's an issue with the switch unit.
Is there a control unit that could be faulty...?

This is really annoying as the car can't really be driven at night now. They went when my dad was out so he had to finish the journey blinding people...

I'd check the relay first, I'm not sure which relay the headlamps use, sure someone with a haynes manual to hand could tell you

To eliminate the switch disconnect it. The headlights should come on permanantly with the switch disconnected

Have you tried changing a bulb for a known good one? Had both mine blow within one minute of each other once!

Also, check voltage at the bulb with a multi meter

Thanks for those, I'll try the switch in the morning.

In that diagram what are items 2, 28 and 29 and where are they located?

Mungo, where can I get a relay locally if that's what I need? Would SDL or G&T do them...?

I changed the bulb one side with a brand new one. Both went at exactly the same time, seems a bit suspect for me both going at exactly the same time...

If there's a short, I'll be sad... No experience with can-bus wiring...
