Car has no life?

Hey because I'm currently not using my Vectra daily I left it standing for maybe four days without starting it, Went to open the Car but the key fob wont unlock the car? so opened the car with the key then went to turn the ignition but nothing no lights on dash nothing there is no power what so ever, Can anyone help me on where to start and what to tackle 1st?

Try charging the battery it sounds flat to me

Yeah tried jump starting the car left the working car running for 5-10mins before starting the Vectra but nothing so must be really flat lol, Just can't see why its gone so flat as there was nothing running I'm sure of it, Cheers mate will have pop the Battery on charge later

If using jump leads then the car with the flat battery should start
The alarm may also sound when the cables are joined to the battery

Never done it on this car, mine has a warning on it "Do not connect jump leads under any circumstances"
I was advised by the AA that the battery had to be disconnected first and recharged separately
Personally, I would just replace the battery as I had to do on my previous Vectra B

If the battery is totally dead, then it won't start of jump leads, or if it does they won't be enough power to run fuel pump etc...

Sounds like the battery is KO'ed get a new one

the car you were trying to start from was it smaller ?? the Vectra batterys are huge and have high ampage as well so there might not have been enough power to turn yours over (especially on the larger engines like the 3.2's)

its an inherent trait of the time of year unfortunately ... batteries always seem to fail at this time as were more likely to be putting the car under a heavier load and potentially on short journeys too means that there more likely to fail when you need them the most...

heaters/fans on full blast
heated rear screen and door mirrors
lights on
radio on
wipers running

etc etc ....

its all a drain on the systems .. so its just exasperating an already weakened battery ... you might want to check the state of the alternator to last thing you want is a new battery not getting sufficient charge either


and moved to the troubleshooting electrical section
