thermostat & temp sensor

Hi all,
I was ready to fit new thermostat after oil change monday until the weather changed, So i've just rang a local mechanic who does all the loacl taxi's for a quote, Described exactly whats happening with temp needle etc after i said i want the thermostat changing and he replied why, And he's just said he has replaced 4 thermostat temp sensors only this week in vectra cdti taxi's and it's solved the problem,

If you've already bought the thermostat you might aswell fit a new sensor aswell and kill two birds with one stone.

Ye got new thermostat boxed in boot, Just thought to save some cash to change just the sensor probs 10 min job with crows feet as theres no way i'm changing the full thermostat in the snow.
Just wondering if anyone on here had changed just the sensor as loads have asked and not seen any confirmed replies.
