Default Bulb failure light on dash - always on.

My bulb failure light is always on - in the middle at the top of the dash display. It is showing white - is this normal ?
(Handbook says it glows red if there a bulb failure and I don't think there are any bulbs failed).

    Vectra C 2007

    Thanks

the bulb warning doesn't change colour if its lit up you must have a bulb off check the rear because there's 2 bulbs either side for sidelights/stop lamps might be one of them off .

if one of the rear bulbs fail it sends power to another one on the rear so you always have 2 red lights either side

    Incorrect.

There are 2 tail lights either side (both of which work at the same time), one of which also acts as the brake light. Should the upper of the 2 tails lights fail, then the lower tail light takes over the role of tail/brake light instead.

In other words, if one of the rear tail light bulbs fail, then you are left with one, not two (per side). However you should be left with a complete set of braking lights.

Rear light positions (from the top down)

    Indicators
    Tail & brake lights
Tail lights (which then becomes a brake light as well should the original tail/brake light fail)
Fog light (drivers side only - UK)
    Reverse lights.

All bulbs are 21 watt single filament bulbs.

Yep - top side/brake bulbs were blown. Normality restored on dash. I persume the lower ones last longer because being 21w they have to be under run.

Also replaced the yellow indicator bulbs - the old ones had a coating which had shrivelled up.

Nope, because the upper ones are also the brake lights, they're used more than the lower ones (unless you drive round with your lights on all day)
