Righto, this nice foam sound deadening between the engine block and plastic cover, does not exist according to the nice man at the parts desk, does anyone know what its part number is???
Because I want one!
Thanks Andrew

Yes is does exist and if I remember correctly its somewhere around £50 at GM/trade price so its not worth it
It's worth it you leave for work at 05:10 and have some respect for your sleeping neighbours
Look out for a breakers and get one off of there. Some CDTI's didn't have it.
i paid about £35 for mine at the dealers and its very much worth it
I only noticed when I was parked next to a bloke at works - he thought my engine was knackered!
what does it help with? Does it help with it heating faster or just noise? My friend has a astra 150 bhp and it has the foam part and my dec doesn't
this is interesting like aerodynamic18 says what does it help with. and did any models come standerd with it.
There are two types - mine sits in the cover and is black. The other type is beige (like the one in the pic) and sits under the cover and protudes out a bit and down the back of the engine.
I believe the ones that protrude out are for the TTiD engines found in saabs.
