    Default CD40 help please

    Hi all

I have an 04 Signum which has a ccr600 (or may be cdr600 can't remember now) in dash cd radio/4xcd changer and GID (I think thats right) display. The car is an Elite model so all the HVAC display goes through the GID as well. It also has steering wheel controls for the radio.

My display is ever so slightly damaged and I have an opportunity to get a CD40 off a member here that comes with a fresh display. As it is a nicer unit I am willing to change to this - but have some questions.

I have read lots of posts and threads on here about CANBUS (full and half) and also GID TID and CID displays (I understand the TID to be a half screen, a GID to be a full screen (monochrome) and a CID to be a full colour display). Its fair to say I do not have a clue if my car is full/half CANBUS although I think I have grasped the concept of how CANBUS operates.

Will the CD40 and its accompanying screen be a compatible straight swap over for my existing unit and screen, bearing in mind the HVAC display detail needs to be included too? I really don't want to be messing about with extra wiring etc, and if the simplest solution is a replacement screen (which I understand needs to be paired with my unit?) then so be it.

    Ta

If as you say you have a ccr 600 stereo then your car is half can, i.e. no scroll wheels on the steering wheel then you can fit a CDC40 but it aint easy and some functionality will disappear but pm Robsey he seems to know the most about this as he has fitted a ful can stereo into a much older car

Sounds right that mate - the steering wheel controls are all buttons - not scroll wheels. Thanks very much for the info - I think I will just look for a new display!
