Default How do you stop the missus spending over budget on the shopping??

Im sure like most of you guys you have a food budget you try and stick to every month. We have a little one which obviously isnt cheap, and trying to get to grips with the overdraft etc, we agreed to a joint account that covers all the household bills, which i put majority in and draw out £50 a week cash on food shopping and do our best to stick to it. Now because my other half works part time she does the food shopping during the week i have no control what is purchased. I find myself having to chuck more in the joint account so as not to have crediters chasing which obviously effects my overdraft. I cant seem to get her to stick to the budget without it causing a massive row, its such a sensitive subject i just wish she was better with her money and our joint 'cash' so i dont have to worry so much, any input would be appreciated.

get a building society account ,

you can only take out what is in the account book ,

there are NO cash machine cards .

so you can put a months money in and that's all she / you can take out ,

and there is no way of going into the red .

I dont want to go down the route of changing accounts etc because the momet she thinks i dont trust her or think think shes doing a bad job it will open whole can of worms and like most women they always assume your having a direct attack at them which im not i just cant seem to drum it home about buying things in the supermarket that you dont need. Litterally half my account summary consists of tesco tesco and more chuffiin tesco.

We don't have any spare cash since last "review", we budget for £100 for all shopping for two of us for a fortnight.

For a time, we kept track of what we were buying, how much worth was in the trolley, Some shops have a portable scan thing so you can keep up with sub total.
Left alone Wendy would overspend everytime.
With her op due tomorrow, 5 months before she can have a low fat low sugar normal meal again, last couple of weeks I said thw hell with it, buy what you want and I'll sort it out somehow.

The only way your going to solve this without changing bank accounts is to talk to her! Be honest with her, tell her your worries. No offence but pu$$y footing around her is not going to solve the problem!

Agree with nicj, you need to sit down and talk about it like adults, without arguing about it. Explain your concerns etc the less she spends on shopping etc the more ££ is available for a night out, try and "sell" it like that if you need a different approach.
Hope you get it sorted pal.
