    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : SXI

    Engine : 2.0DTI

    Year : 2002

    Default MOT highs and lows

So the Vectra's done 23K in a year and since last service, MOT now due. MPG has dropped from 51 to 44 and I'm thinking I've got a hefty bill on the way.

    So......

Straight through MOT no advisories!! Bonus.

Drive the car home and feels like its got 1000cc engine in it - no pull at all. The guy said he soaked something on fuel filter to clear the system a bit to bring MPG up. I'm thinking I just need to give it some miles to work its way through.

Driving to work next morning, accelerating onto dual carriageway and get to 3k rpm in 3rd and spanner comes up and limp mode.

Struggle on to work then get the codes read by Innes, a member on here, over lunch time = p0234 positive.

Take air filter, maf off over the weekend, cant see anything. all hoses and vac pipes seem ok.

Took it back to mechanic yesterday to sort but he's stumped!!

Any chance its the fuel filter or has something else gone wrong between me dropping it off and picking it up?

Well swapping the sensor did nothing, still had poor acceleration.

Innes unplugged the vac pipes and check the suction on the actuators, the one near the MAF was quite strong but the one near radiator was weak. Innes the blew down some of the pipes and reconnected everything. We decided it had to be packed of to the garage again to investigate.

So I drive to get some fuel, foot down entering the dual carriageway and full power is back again - no faults since.

No rhyme or reason - possibly a blockage in a vac pipe? I've no idea!!!
