    Default How Do.

Last week i bought myself a CDTi 150 SRi on a 56 plate.

Its got circa 92k miles and full VX service history although its due a service, ill not be getting it done at a VX place.

I'v been looking around on here trying to suss out changing my belt and water pump as its never had new and its overdue now. Seems to be pretty much straight forward and think i am compitent enough to undertake the task on my own.
I have looked into the inlet manifold as well but that is deffo too big a job for me

I have a few questions that i thought maybe some poeple can help me answer.
I have looked into fitting Auto lights and wipers. After a bit of research i know that a lot of work is needed to fit this to a preface and half canbus. For mine is it as simple as getting an auto headlight switch and fitting?

My temp gauge hardly ever goes over approx 80 and take forever to get there. is this normal?

I was filling up the other yesterday and some divvy impatient bint tried to get past me at the pump and ran over my fuel filler cap. i have replaced this with a Vec B one, is this OK?

And finaly i thought the MPG would be better, as i have put £40 in and only done about 250 miles on it is this a normal amount? I drive very carefully as i dont know what she can put up with. I hardly ever go about 2k revs and i have never been past 4k revs.
I had a 3.0 Vec B before this and i knew it could take everything i chucked at it and more.

I am a member of the VVOC and have had a few Vecs including ST 316.

Anyway nice to be here. Have a few ideas for my C and hopefully i can get her to how i want her.

    Cheers all.

I'm making a list in my head at the moment for her, firstly though is making sure the engine and surrounding is nice and solid. Belt and water pump first.

Hi and welcome. Any plans for mods/upgrades yet? If dip beam not been raised to highest legal MoT level do it asap, it's scary standard, set way too low
Diesels to take forever to warm up compared to petrol - was your 3.0 derv or petrol? Mine usually steady on 85 temp wise, not looked lately but cold weather would affect it.
Can't help with aito lights or fuel cap, sure someone will know.
I reckon £40 would be around 6 gallons, giving you around 40mpg. If that's around town that's good, but if it's all motorway you should be getting 50-60mpg@60-70mph.

    Morning, cheers for the input.

The B was a petrol and boy did it shift through plenty of that with my toe down lol.
As for mods I'm not sure as per the engine yet as its still pretty new to me and not site as to what is good/bad for it.
Body wise I'd like a set of snowies but I'm undecided yet, I wanna see what its like with the current rims on lowered. Colour coded grill or black irmy grill. Front splitter and rear diffuser and skirts VXR style. Debadge and carbon or colour coded boot strip.

There us plenty more I guess but that's just what pops to mind just now.
