Default Wheel size and tyre size

    Hi All,

Hope your all well and looking forward to xmas

Just have a quick question about wheel and tyre sizes because I have been looking at new tyres for next year.

Had a look at some different sizes as well, at the moment I got 215/50/17 on the Signum, I was thinking of getting 225/45/17 as they are a more common size and a bit cheaper but looking at a size calculator its says that 235/45/17 would be better, it puts the speedo out less.

The difference is for the 225/50/17 1.95% and for the 235/45/17 0.55%

I'm wondering if the 235's will fit on the rims, does anyone know or have the dimensions for the wheels?

Best picture I have to hand of them is below, its the on the left.

    Thanks for any help

i have 225/45/17 on my current rims, being out by 1 mph per 60mph isnt an issue imo.

235 might be rarer and therefore more expensive

    Thanks JPS, I was thinking of getting a set of Neutons 235 45 17's are £265 for a set of 4 NT5000's

Set of 4 225 45 17 are £256 so not a lot in it really, just dont know if the will fit

225/45r17 is the correct upgrade size for 215/50r17 buddy.. The only prob with this is a more bumpy ride..

235/45/17 isnt the approved size by VX. Also could be an issue with insurance if its not the correct size.

They will fit though but will look a little wide compared to the rim.

The Siggy on the left in the picture has the wheels fitted to the Elite and should be on 225-45 17 tyres - you wont kerb the rim either. There are narrower 17" wheels that normally run on 215s, but yours aint they!
