    Default Alarm System

have recently had a cobra 8188 fitted, the dealer said he could not wire the front indicators to flash only the back ones on my Vectra 2003, any help with the wiring would be apreciated.

Not convinced he knows what he is at!!!

He's talking bollox mate. If he can't do the job as requested, ask for your money back.

It sounds like he couldn't be bothered.

I wish I could help you mate but only a Computer Geek. Car electronics is not my speciality (at all).

    Good luck.

i didnt know you could actually get aftermarket alarms for the vec C now? something to do with the cnabus wiring making it virtually impossible? There were rumours of clifford developing a system that would work with canbus but thats all i know.

With the new BMW's you have to wire to EACH indicator including the side repeaters!!!It takes about 4 days to wire a clifford in successfully!!!

I wonder if the vectra wiring is similar now and the guy was just lazy!

A guy told me that he can fit an after market alarm to my car but he would have to disable my Vx one. I'm going to get TRACKER installed when i've got the cash instead.

Spending the cash on a Tracker sounds a sensible idea Alex, rather than a replacement alarm. Isn't the Vx alarm/immobiliser Thatcham 1 spec anyway? They'll get into your car no matter what system you have - if they're determined enough. At least the tracker will greatly increase your chances of recovery if ever the unthinkable happened.

Have often wondered about fitting one in mine, may look at options/prices again now that you've mentioned it!

Trackers are brilliant.... we had a report of a stolen vehicle a couple of weeks ago, got the tracker switched on and got a hit in a few minutes... located the car undamaged within 25 minutes of the original report and got it soco'd and returned to the owner within a couple of hours!!!!

The only downer is when people "forget" they have tracker, and don't think to tell the police ops when they report the car stolen, then tell you 3 hours later and the car is 200 miles away!!!!!
