Default It's like waiting for a bus

My Vectra is just like waiting for a bus... Nothing happens for ages then three things go wrong at once...

So the enigne themostat is on it's way out which is hitting the fueling of the car and time taken to warm up hard... Then on Saturday night I am parking up the car... I had to bump up on a kerb to do it.. As I did so I head a distinks metalic thud sound... Checked the catr out the following morning and i found the top of the spring had collapsed along with the top mount thing (had me neighbour check it also at the weekend who is a manager at a l tyre place and he confirmed what has gone wrong... So end result it i am having to put a few things right asap on the old girl...

So today.. Eibachs were ordered for 167 from demond tweeks, my neighbour is gettig me the top mount from his work and the engine themostat has been ordered from WVP (world of Vauxhall parts) with 2.5 ltrs red antifreeze for £50....

Busy saturday morning planned... the joys of vectra ownership....

I have the how to for the themostat but is there one for the springs????

its always the way. I just had an ordeal over my screenwashers. Removed the bottle, cleaned the small meshy filter, even bought a new pump, cleaned the lines and eventually it decided to work again... I was ready to throw it byt the end. Its always something. Had been sat for a year at my dads farm and I thinkt he anti freeze had gone bad and made that plasticy film which cloged it all up.

Good luck with urs though. some nice new springs

Very true... A nice drop on eibachs is a result... Only down side is its 3 to 4 days for delivery... I need them for saturday. They were bought yesterday so it's tuch and go if they will be in on time... If they are not I may be asking my mate at quick fit for another favour and having him fit them for me...

I'm having exactly the same situation with my VXR. Been perfect for nearly 5 years no problems at all. However.... this month has been a really money pit

    - New Dual Mass Flywheel
    - New Ceramic Clutch Plate
    - New Uprated Cover Plate
    - Gearbox Service
    - New CIM Module
    - New AP Racing front Discs

Its going to cost around £1500 so far

... and the insurance is up for renewal in January, god knows what thats going to be

Yep... I've decided today to take it off road for a few months. Dont use it much during winter anyways so I'm going to do the CIM and brakes next year.

Not paying out over a grand this close to Xmas just to keep it roadworthy

    Ok, quick update...

Two new top mounts pocured, a full set of Eibachs have now arrived and a new complete engine thermostat and housing arrived (with antifreeze etc also)....

So this weeks plans are to...

    1. swap springs and top mounts
    2. replace the engine thermostat
    3. swap the front bumnper I have which is the same colour (LS to SRI)

I recon that's 3/4 hours work max... what do you all think?
