Default vetra 1.9 cdti cold start issue

hi im new to the forum ive owned lots of vauxhalls in the past that have been great no probs but this 54 plate vectra 1.9cdti is a pain in the bum.
hard to start from cold when it does start runs lumpy and revs are slow to respond. after a mile or 2 no probs and i can stop and start the car for the rest of the day no problems its just first start of the day . I took it to my local garage and had it on the diagnostic and it throw up code p1125 which is somethin to do with the throttle body .

Also today the car only blows on number 4 on heater and car temp dont rise and it only blows cold air so ive ordered a new thermostat, heater resistor and fiat egr plank plate . Im also going to whip off the throttle body to clean it and the egr valve and re-solder the connections in the throttle body to cure the p1125 code thats what ive found out so far on this site and its been loads of help im just left with the cold start issue if anyone can help id be very grateful

similar thing on mine mate, cured most by cleaning EGR, and throttle body and boost sensor from all the crud that builds up, still get some lag when cold which I think is now linked to the swirl valves bleeding air as the seals have gone so am about to replace the inlet manifold .

think you are on the right lines with the clean of the TB etc but have a look at the swirl bar on top of the manifold to see if it is off and jammed open.

think reason for it being worse when cold is the cold grease and gunk is less malleable so everything moves that bit slower until it warms up or the turbo kicks in.

To my knowledge the heater plugs are only on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition on (orange squiggle on dash that goes out) to aid starting. other than poor quality winter diesel once running should be ok. I Think that the grease in the swirls freezes and goes stiff, hence why after a few miles the problem goes.

thanks for the info guys will be stripping the car down at the weekend so will take some pics of what i find and post them as this seems to be a common fault on these engines .

another thing ive noticed when it does start from cold the revs sit at 900rpm but am i bein stupid or should this be higher till the car warmed up its like it has no auto choke could this be a throtle body issiue?

Older engines raised the revs on cold start and as the engine warmed the revs would return to normal

Modern engines adjust the timing, fuel, and air mixture instead
However, the revs may also be adjusted in extremely cold weather

Does engine normally rev at 900rpm, or is this higher than normal?

Mine will start from cold ok. It was parked for seven weeks and started first time. It revs at about 800 rpm when hot or cold. But I have had my EGR blanked and mapped away from the ECU. The test will be next month when I start it. Have not driven for 3 weeks and the weather is cool now, and will not be driving for another 3 or 4 weeks.

took the car to bits today thermostat was alot easier than i thought i now have the thb and the egr valve off the car and in the house .
ive just removed the 5 clips off the thb and removed the plastic part that holds the circuit board and this was full of oil so its had a good clean and out im now going to look at the solder joints to see if they need re doin.
the egr and thb are both thick with gunge never seen anything this bad and ive stripped alot of engines over the years its about 2cm thick all round the inside of the thb and this was causing the butterfly to stick and jam this might be my problem with my cold start issue and egr valve is the same so im going to completely strip it down and give everything a good clean and see if this makes any difference
