1.8 vvt gear change

can any one tell me if this is normal.However I try I cannot change from first gear to second smoothly.When I shut off to change gear the engine sometimes holds on to the revs.Changing from 3rd gear up is smooth.I do have some clutch judder but only when the car is cold but I dont think this is the problem

No not normal m8
Changing from 1st to 2nd should be smooth.
The engine does hold on to the revs from time to time but that is mostly de-clutching in 1st something to do with a dump value (and is normal)

had a similar problem with my Vec When I first got it, air box mod and a new air filter sorted this
