    Default Redex Clogging filter

Has anyone else had a problem with redex clogging the fuel filter on the V6 cdti?
About 6 months ago i thought i had some contaminated fuel but now it appears that redex might be the problem. I found an unopened bottle in the boot as i was doing the wiring for my sub. I put some in the next tank of fuel i bought. 200 miles later it's running like a sack of poo, just like..... erm.... oh, the last time i put redex in. 2000+ revs, there's just no power. Coincidence? i think not. This'll be the third time this year i've changed the fuel filter.

I put some in my motor before the last R/R and i think it had something to do with the loss of power in high revs and a bad result

maybe the redex has shifted some crap that's blocked the filter!
What fuel are you using? I only use shell as this seems to be good. Steer clear of the supermarkets.

I thought that, but i changed the filter 3 months ago when i did the service. It was clean as a whistle. I changed from using what i class as 'lesser quality' fuel suppliers to places that offer premium stuff. Shell, Total, etc and there are quite a few of those on my regular work runs. I've yet to take a look at the filter but i'm preparing myself for the worst

if you havent used it regularly its probably cleared a load of sludge out the tank and lines, this also happens if you swap over to blended bio diesel . best option get 2 new filters, run another tank with redex ( full bottle) after that tank change filter again and use regularly eg every 5000 miles.

I've mentioned it before, do NOT use diesel injector treatment in the 3.0 V6 CDTI
Equally, I would not recommend using any other fuel treatment, but if you must then use a diesel fuel treatment or cetane additive

Also, the fuel filter MUST be replaced every 10K miles
The Service Book states 20K / 30K miles, but we all have proven this is an oversight on VX part
I've been replacing my fuel filter every 10K miles and never had an issue

    Whys that mate?
I've used redex loads with no dramas at all.
Also used 2stroke oil. And comma additive aswel.

Covering 3k a month so over a tank of fuel a week and no problems.

Although it get a full service every 7-8k

Hi Mate sounds like you have something here. I've been experiencing power loss issues at 2500 on my V6 CDTI and it was a couple of days after a put Redex injector cleaner in the tank. All fine now but scary for a while.

I have used redex injector cleaner for years in all my cars and company cars (diesel) and never ever had a problem, ONLY put in what it says on the bottle, if you chuck a full bottle in it WILL clog the fuel filter in some cars, but as M8internet says for some unknown reason DONT use it in the V6 CDTI.
