    Default Tunit tuning box.

Anyone tried a Tunit tuning box on the 3.0 V6 cdti ('z'version) engine ?

They seem to be an expensive piece of kit but get rave reviews on the Tunit web site - obviously !!

Haven't tried one but was thinking of saving my pennies for a DTUK one.

Blimey, Tunit cost even more than DTUK.

Yep, about £485 for the Signum V6, BUT - I am only up the road from their HQ and they will take a 2nd-hand unit from another type of car altogether and give it the once-over; re-map it for the Signum and put the necessary wiring and plugs in place for about £140.

So, if you can find a cheap one on eBay you could finish up with what appears to be a good product for about half the new price.

They also have a rolling road in house so you can get 'before' and 'after' figures - presumably across the range of adjustments on their box.

The insurance implications of fitting any tuning box is a problem - about 3x your normal premium I am told. Oh dear !!

Update on Tunit tuning box - bought one on eBay for £120 having been armed with the info above about Tunit re-working the unit for the 3.0 V6cdti ('z' version). Live reasonably close to their HQ so went there today by appointment to have the job done.

It was then found that it was not possible to remove the plug off the end of the common rail due to the proximity of the back of the timing case casting in order to intercept the ECU signals with their unit's plug and wiring.

Disappointed, as Tunit gets good revues and does not just rely on boosting fuel pressure, and guarantee that their kit will not harm your engine. But this begs the question as to how anyone else is managing to install a tuning box on this engine without substantial strip-down of the engine auxilliaries (or indeed, the timing case) !!

Hi had a DTUK box, and it fitted fine. But went into limp mode nearly every time I booted it even on low settings.

Spend the money and get the regal EDS IPF solution... Not much more than a new tunning box but infinatly better for the car as it's a full ECU reprogram and not a system designed to fool the engine ito doing something......

The above comment may open up a can of worms....

Yep, you're right - I have done my homework on EDS and that was always going to be my next stop. I was told that it also remaps the auto box. Anyone any info. on that bit ?

Phone Regal and speak to Karen (even if you dont plan on buying it from them)... She is great and will talk you through the maps etc... She spent ages with me explained tha maps across several calls over several weeks...

Gave me the real confidence to buy it and map the Derv Astra I had and then the VXR astra I now have... If i ever upgrade to a better vectra with a turbo I will be calling her again to organise a second licence to map it...
