Failed MOT :(

Well it's failed. Funny enough it's only failed on 1 item.........emissions. 1.exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive. 2.exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits.3.exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excess. Trip to MIJ for a new cat I think as I had a decat in 2010 then had the centre silencer removed in early 2011.

He doesn't have a cat fitted.

Being a GSi it shouldn't need the main cat due to the 2 precats, but it seems it does now (or could it be lambda sensors).

Why did you not just leave the main CAT in and remove the pre cats? ON the CDTI anyway they are the most restrictive.

lol do you want to attempt this? you are quite right if they can be removed it will certainly be much more restrictive but due to having 4 lambda sensors its not possible without cheating the downstream signals.

i asked why dont the pre cats just get removed? I wouldn't know what the ylook like on yours, The CDTI has one down pipe off of the turbo with the temperature sensor in it. There is a downpipe available and it has the hole for the downpipe. I'm sure if a few wanted this done a custom exhaust place would be able to make them up.

This just gets better and better. Went to another MOT test centre this morning to get another emissions test done and it only flaming PASSED EVERYONE. Went back to the Vauxhall dealership and gave them the report and they retested it only to FAIL AGAIN. It seems that from yesterday to today the max limit for 02 has dropped from 0.300 to 0.200. Guess what Mr Motorbodies I'm not impressed and I certainly will not be coming back.

Thanks for that, spoke to vosa who confirmed that the CO limit is 0.3 and this morning Vauxhall set it at 0.2. I now have a full MOT with no advisories from a different garage so I will be asking for a full refund as my test at Vauxhall was done wrong twice.
