    Default virgin media

been with virgin for years but 2 weeks ago moved house so had to get it transfered to new house for some reason i thought we didnt need to have the phone as we only used it a few times a week i thought it might be cheaper just to use mobles, how wrong was i
so last night phoned virgin up to get on the phone as well got through to the normal someone who just about speaks english but has more of a english name than i do!
she said yes can put it on it cannot be done till the 7th of jan and its going to cost you £49.99 to connect it up
thought im not having that ive never had to pay anything before and i have been with them for years so tried to tell her it was wrong and bt is offering to connect me for free her answer was "sounds like you need to go to bt then"
blood started to boil and i told her i wasnt happy and put me through to the compliants department.
after 15 mins on hold got through to a very nice lady with a very nice voice kept calling me love etc. i thought she was wasted their with her voice she would make a fortune on the chat lines anyway a quick chat with her now no charges to connect me got free calls weekend and after 6pm all for extra £4 a mth and the install has gone from 7th jan next year to today so now happy thankyou complaints department

i did the same a few week ago with british gas over a 3 year old £40 bill that they gave me a default on my credit report which i shouldnt of had as i had a card meter at the time i phoned complaints department at british gas 10 mins later i got a phone call back from them bill wiped and a few days later the default was removed off credit report.

just thinking who else i could call for money off or discount roll on insurance renewal

LOL sounds like a good result, Go for the mobiles next, they always taking the P.

I actually like when companys **** up, my wife hates it but i make sure i get my moneys worth.

I had an issue with Virgin where my internet connection kept dropping I got them to refund my broadband rental for 6 months, was a touch as i had arrears of £100 on my bill, few complaints later and my account is not in credit.

I can get it installed for free and reduce your bills and get you TiVo Multiroom, and 30mb BB

If you take the phone through my mates rates deal

EDIT: Just read it all, too late mate, and the phone line would have been unlimited calls 24/7 up to 65 mins per call

Hmmm, Virgin Media.....they mis-sold my my package two years ago.

Offered me everything for £35 per month (I rang them). That was TV (XL), phone and broadband, then happily charged me silly money a month. When I rang and asked what had happened, they claimed i'd mis-understood the offer. Then sent me a feedback questionnaire, so I told them exactly what I was offered and the fact they've breached the contract i'd been offered.

Didn't take long for my phone to ring, had a nice chap ask a few questions and realised the original call was recorded...... well, well, £35 a month it was. It only lasted a year, as they refused to renew it, so i'm not the happiest with what I have.

TiVo isn't an option for me as I need an aerial feed up to the upstairs TV.

What do you mean TiVo isn't an option ? If you have a box already it's just a swap !?

If you have been with Virgin Media for over 10 years, you should have had a broadband upgrade about 2005/2006
I started off with TeleWest on 1Mbps and the upgrade increased to 2Mbps, the last under TeleWest
I have been on 4Mbps since 2008, which was the first upgrade under Virgin Media
The next was 10Mbps but didn't receive any notification of the change earlier this year, although I did notice my bill went from broadband M to broadband L at the same price
Not sure what the minimum will be from early 2012
