Just looks like a transformer to me? A proper trickle charger monitors the condition of the battery and tops it up accordingly, this looks like it will apply a charge to it all the time which isn't ideal.
So if you've got one from Halfords, how come you're looking for another one?
just looking at how much they were on ebay i brought the one from halfords because i needed it there and then but after reading your replys looks like the one ive got is a safe one
also is this true
A reading of 12.66 volts indicates a fully charged battery
12.45 volts is 75% charged,
12.24 volts is 50% charged,
12.06 volts is 25% charge
I've no idea mate hopefully someone who knows better than me can answer that one!
how long to fully charge a bettery? , im using the halfords wall socket with the 2 croc clips, the battery was dead i mean dead, its been on charge since 4pm tonight and just checked it its at 12.23
sorry just re-read my post . how long to fully charge a bettery? depends on how big the battery is lol
General rule is charge a battery at 10% of its capacity for 10 hours.
eg, 70 Amp Hour Battery, charge at 7 Amps for 10 hours.
But 3.5 Amps for 20 hours is just as good.
Or 1 amp for 70 Hours.
But 70 Amps for 1 hour is NOT good. Battery plates will overheat.
old thread of mine but need some info, i haven't used the car for a good 8 weeks, well not enough to keep the battery 100%.
i decided to dig out this halfords battery charger and hook it up to charge/maintain the battery. the spec on the charger says output:12vDC 750ma, im not an expert when it comes to electrics but wonder if somebody on here could tell me what rate this charger is charging the battery.
if it helps the battery is a Exide 71Ah 670CCA
(i did connect the multi-meter to the battery while charging and set it to MA and it read 0.06) not sure if that was the correct setting to tell me the charge rate,
