Have a look at the technical section in http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/index.php to glean a bit more info on this subject.

Then search the map on the same link and it should turn up a decent garage .

Pro-grip in bonnybridge, I travel through from Greenock. Definitely worth the few miles

I have used McCocheneys at Speanbridge Roundabout
Phone up and book an appointment
Costs about £70 and takes just under an hour

Take everything out of the car
Put the car to the correct tyre pressures
Ideally have about half a tank of fuel

Sit in the reception, watch the screen and enjoy

As has been said before, Alignmycar do not endorse any particular garage. Their search function only gives a list of centres where they've supplied equipment to.

    Taken from their small print:

"The alignment centres available on this site are all independently owned, and although they have been trained by Pro-Align on the use of their Hunter alignment equipment and given ‘best practice’ guidance, we cannot be held responsible for the wheel alignment service actually delivered.

Please note that although we endorse the Hunter Imaging System, we are not able to recommend alignment centres, only provide guidance on their locations. All centres are independently owned and operate to their own standards."

I went to several garages listed on the Alignmycar site only to find out the muppets operating the equipemnt hadn't got a clue about car geometry, let alone basic tracking .

"Buyer beware" if you use the Alignmycar site .

Yes, ran into that same issue
The centre nearest me, Pro-Grip at Bonnybridge, had to search the database for my car
When I contacted Hunters they advised their licence had expired, hence why they had to search the database
When the outlet has a valid licence they simply entire the VRN and check / ask you if that is the correct car
