    Angry dti egr valve

    what causes the egr valve to clog up so quick . mine keeps doing it every 1000 miles .then i got to take it off and clean it and refit . i do that and the boost presure and the maf sensor. i dont want to spend £255 on a new one if i still get the same problem

    The top part of the manifold is easy , all you really need is a aerosol can of carb cleaner , the bottom half is a little more difficult , innes has done a how to on this part i see if i can find the thread

    i wouldnt be touching the MAF sensor they are very sensitive

    how much should a garage charge to do this lower manifold clean?

    I personally would not give this job to a garage , just take the top part off and give that a clean , unless this is absolutely caked in crud then i would not consider doing the lower part . I have enclosed some pics of the upper manifold showing you what it looks like it also shows the boost sensor tip on the inside of the manifold this is only secured by the one screw and a rubber locking ring which can be easily prised off

    i keep cleaning that .the last time i took it all of scrubed the manifold in the pic clean with a brush and then i used egr cleaner on the boost sensor and egr valve plus the maf . since then i have done about 1000 miles and i',m getting P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction code coming up again

    Unplug the electrical connection on the egr and see if you are still getting the same fault code while there make sure there is no twists in the wiring and the wires are not stretched , i and others have had this before .
