    Default Plumbing advice needed.

    hi all. im about to attempt to replace my kitchen tap with an almost identical one.

    what i need to know is do i need to drain the water tank or will i get away with just turning the water off.

    You need to switch off the incoming mains stopcock (cold supply), and then also switch off the cold fill to your hot water tank. Once you've done that, you may need to open the taps to let any water still in the pipes drain out.

    As long as nothing is coming out of either tap after you've done the above, it's safe to remove it.

    Hopefully there should be stop valves under the sink for both hot & cold supplies, if not close cold water main valve , hot water if tank feed shut feed off and run all hot taps will empty quicker , remembering to close afterwards. If supplied from combi boiler then just close or switch off cold water feed.simple.
