    What sort of damage should i expect?

    How fast were you going? If your lucky just broken rockers, if your not a broken and bent valves.

    A garage will remove the cam cover and check and replace the rockers, the timing belt and, assuming the water pump seized and broke the belt, that too. Really only after that can they see if the car will run, if not they will have to remove the head and see how many valves its broken or bent. I don't know if its possible to do a compression test through the glow plug holes or not.

    9 times out of 10 it will just break the rockers.

    So replace the rockers, new water pump, new cambelt and rollers etc and that should be it.

    cambelt isnt actually nipped its frayed, and the were it has frayed on the inside the crankshaft pulley has worn the teeth away, any ideas why this is?

    Only one of two things I can think is the tensioners haven't been set correctly whenever it was last changed or there could be play in the crank pulley.
