Default Help me - vectra c 2.0 dti - Limpin donkey mode... ;(

hi all,im new here so i hope this is in the right place

well just swaped my astra 2.2 sri for a vectra 2.0 dti.. Thought it was a nice deal but that soon ended...

I didnt notice at first, due to this being my first diesel, that the car was down on power..

Well figured out on here that it is on limp mode [ Someone blocked the spanner light ]

So i brought a new egr and a maf sensor and checked all the pipes, but nothing has changed, not even a little,..vrrooom? Just same old shepper van kinda diesal going on..

[Sorry about the spelling,im abit thick with things like that.]

I had the codes read which said egr and maf thats why i replaced them, but yet it still acting the same,is there anything else that is easy that i can try...i dont want to spend more money on it now because its already f**ked me off abit to much only had it a week

    Thank you for your replys...

P.S - Also i read on here that when the heater only works on 4 you need a new resitor...So i got one of them,it works on the other settings but not powerful? Just like a gentle breeze of hot air on 3? Is this normal or something else gone pete tong?

    Thank you

Hi thanks for your reply. I checked the pipes but nothing. Apart from a small black pipe under the engine looks abut chaffed and the rubber connector is little spilt right at the end where it goes on the pump I think ( to the right if engine smallish round thing) could that be the thing. How do I replace it thanks

Shauny , the round thingy at the end of your camshaft is the vacuum pump ..
If the rubber connections to this or anyof the other subsequent connections are split then you have no vacuum in the system hence no advancement equalling engine wont rev .
get yourself some 3mm silicone hose of e bay 3 meters is enough to do the whole engine should be £7 to £8 for the 3 meters
Also check your vacuum actuators have been connected up properly there marked in and load on the top covers .

Shaun all you need is the 3mm tube , then replace each section by cutting the silicone tube to length
see the enclosed pic as an example though this is of a 2.2 dti engine the principle is the same

If the tube is fine then all you need is a new connecting rubber, i remember this happend to me on my old Vec B dti sri, i happend to have a leangth of rubber tubing which i had previously used as a brake bleed valve, all i did was chop 2 inch off & use it... it worked a treat & is probably still the car today, 6 years down the line
