So I'm travelling a lot with work at the moment and hiring a car from Enterprise weekly. The customer service is great, very personal. The standard of their cars? Not so great and unfortunately it seems to mainly be Insignias!
Last week when I was down, it took 3 different Insignias before I found one I was happy to drive away. The first one the EML was on so I rejected it so I didn't have to worry about breaking down. The second one, the guy found a chunk out of the side wall of one of the rear tyres. Didn't fancy a blow out driving on the motorway so I ended up with the third one a very nice white SRi 160.
This week I come down, first Insignia was a petrol this time. All seemed fine, signed all the paperwork, got in to drive away and discovered when I pressed the accelerator the revs dropped and the engine started spluttering. Couldn't get it to move. The guy then offered me some sort of Seat that was next to it (didn't catch model but he said it had same chassis as an A6 apparently). Discovered 3 or 4 chunks missing from the side wall of one of the front tyres, this time he said it was safe because it wasn't through to the "mesh" so it was just cosmetic. Given that side wall of the tyre is structural I wasn't for taking the chance. So back to a diesel insignia this time, though I'd check the tyres before anything else and discovered one of the rear tyres was almost flat. Again the guy reconed it was ok but I wasn't for having any of it. So 4th time lucky this week, got a different Insignia in a dark grey colour.
Hope it goes better next week or I'll be starting to rent from Hertz!
