    Default Enterprise car rental

So I'm travelling a lot with work at the moment and hiring a car from Enterprise weekly. The customer service is great, very personal. The standard of their cars? Not so great and unfortunately it seems to mainly be Insignias!

Last week when I was down, it took 3 different Insignias before I found one I was happy to drive away. The first one the EML was on so I rejected it so I didn't have to worry about breaking down. The second one, the guy found a chunk out of the side wall of one of the rear tyres. Didn't fancy a blow out driving on the motorway so I ended up with the third one a very nice white SRi 160.

This week I come down, first Insignia was a petrol this time. All seemed fine, signed all the paperwork, got in to drive away and discovered when I pressed the accelerator the revs dropped and the engine started spluttering. Couldn't get it to move. The guy then offered me some sort of Seat that was next to it (didn't catch model but he said it had same chassis as an A6 apparently). Discovered 3 or 4 chunks missing from the side wall of one of the front tyres, this time he said it was safe because it wasn't through to the "mesh" so it was just cosmetic. Given that side wall of the tyre is structural I wasn't for taking the chance. So back to a diesel insignia this time, though I'd check the tyres before anything else and discovered one of the rear tyres was almost flat. Again the guy reconed it was ok but I wasn't for having any of it. So 4th time lucky this week, got a different Insignia in a dark grey colour.

Hope it goes better next week or I'll be starting to rent from Hertz!

It is my experience that Enterprise are rather sloppy with car care. Every time I have dealt with them the cars have needed very careful scrutiny.

I moved to Hertz and have not had a single reject in the time, plus I get the benefits #1 card, gold, the five star (which give you free upgrades) I have had E'class, a Land Cruiser XC90, SLK350, Jaguar XJ, to name a few in such upgrades from them.

wow ... i cannot believe that there prepared to let vehicles out with potentially life threatening defects ...

and you can bet that they have charged the previous person for the damage so why not get it sorted and replaced

Only used them a couple of times, once when my mother died in LOndon just after I became disabled, and I needed an autobox car in a hurry. They sorted me with a Previa column change excellent car, did 3 trips to London and back. day before it was due back went to visit grave at Alveley and a flying rat came out of the hedge and snafu'd the passenger side headlight. Had paid the extra insurance so let them know by phone, took it back for 8am to give them a chance to fix as it was due out again at 9am. Surprised to hear about the car problems.

Not used Enterprise, but can say that Hertz have always been very good when I have hired from them (good service and good cars).

My employer has now switched to Avis who are a bit hit and miss with their service and cars (They have previously tried to bill me for damage not caused by me, and for fuel even though I returned the car with a full tank).

He must have meant A4, the Exeo is a facelifted/rebadged old-shape A4; there's no SEAT as large as an A6 except the Alhambra MPV.
