Yes, although it will have to be welded the same all the way round, as depending on how goosed your dmf is, as you can get play in all directions, As far as im aware the design of the dmf changed, so it makes sence to just replace it with another dmf.

mine makes a slight noise, but i'll just be waiting till my clutch starts to slip then i'll change it all.

Have a word with these guys mate, they could make you up a solid one. There just behind Costco. If its a good idea on a CDTi or not is another thing.

There solid though, if you could see a dmf you could see how welding it up is not really an option, balancing it alone would be a nightmare.

It has been done on some vag's with success... you have to get it balanced 100% right though, when my dmf had failed it had actually welded itself together, the lack of balance was causing the knocking noise.
Just to add, you would still need a new clutch (a sprung clutch) if you had a welded or a solid fly... to take up the judder/vibration

    Because they can.

You can get them for transits and we have started to get them coming back after doing about 50k on the solid flywheel needing gearbox rebuilds.

The vibrations from the engine are transferred to the clutch where they are absorbed. On a solid flywheel they are transferred to the gearbox and bearings.

It seems some cars can survive with them for longer than others.
