    Exclamation Tenancy Admin Fees?

Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat! But
I have decided to stay where I am for a bit longer.
So I said to my letting agent that I would like to renew my contract for another year.

They have asked for £180.00 for the service of probably the same contract as last year but with a different date on it.

Is there anyway of not having to pay that amount?
I am hoping that someone on here might have the answer.

Had a one year contract each time, whenever it was renewed there wasnt any charge from the letting agent. If anything its only when the contract has changed and they have to draw up a new one.
Plasma's Tech2 services are now partially open and able to provide services

I will take a look at last years and this years and see if there is any difference! Surely they must charge the landlord more than enough for thier service?!

It's a contract, tell them to send it to your solicitor
Equally, visit CAB and seek advice
In Scotland this would probably come under extortion, so presumably Trading Standard could support you on this

Have you renewed in the past?
If so, was there a fee?
When you took the original contract out, was there a fee?
Check your existing contract, does it include a section on renewals and fees?

It suits me fine too, as i can give a months notice and move when i fancy, but the lanlady has to give us 2 months notice.. but i know she isnt selling and she is happy with us as tennants anyway, so im not throwing my money and lining an estate agents pocket for em to print a piece of paper off with a set of new dates on! .... dont do it happy girl, this is why the owner of estate agents drive aston martins! The estate agent is clearly taking the pish, due to the lack of sales in the market, they're trying to earn the bonus elsewhere
