mines the same diesels always take longer to heat up.
thats ok then thought it was faulty
Temperature gauge works on coolant temperature.Takes at least 5 miles to move.
for the use of a lot of diesel . you said you have change your egr valve . but someone has told me on here about the inlet maifold . that it should be cleaned as well as the egr . because mine keeps going rubbish on fuel and the egr fault show up . here is a how2 . i going to try that when its dry .

does it stay up to temp, once it gets there
i cleaned inlet manifold few weeks ago , and temp gauge stays up while on move but goes down to 80 in traffic
