Default Creak from the rear roof area

Ok I know there is a field mod for this but tried Vauxhall care and they say its not a know problem lol and dealership are quoting me £100 which I would willingly pay to get rid of the creaking but if I get it done what im worried about is that it may still creak?

Also what ive noticed is that sometimes over the yellow paint bumps when you drive over these because they are close together the creak sounds like somethings loose almost like a rattle from the roof any ideas or any ideas if I can get Vauxhall to do this mod without paying?

Its a 2002 Sri 2.2 - Checked parcel shelf and plastic trim.

    Thanks,

    L.

If it's this problem, then it's a known problem. The whole reason that Vx do Field Remedies is because it's problems that they have become aware of - so whoever spoke to you was talking rubbish (assuming it was this problem).

Problem you're going to have is that any Field Remedies are only carried our under warranty, and your warranty must have ran out.

If your dealer have quoted £100 to do the above FR, then I'd say it's actually a pretty good price - given what they have to do. If it's bugging you, then I'd say £100 is a small price to pay.

Well if they, the dealer, reckon it's due to that problem (the one mentioned in the FR) and they do the work and it doesn't cure it, I'd say you have grounds to get your money back!

Im having second opinions about this, When I go over a succession of small bumps it sounds more like a rattle from the rear roof area im thinking this may be something to do with the ariel mount or maybe the hinges.

The creaking seems only from the left if I have a loose hinge I suppose this would creak when shut as it might move - what do you guys think?

Anyone wanna fix this i'll get you a bottle of whiskey doing my head in now!

    Default Creak Creak Rattle Rattle...

Ok this is really doing my head in now,

The creak is still there sounds like the roof section above the rear pillar.

    and

Now I have a rattle noise in the roof lining like a plastic rattle!

Both only happen over speed bumps or pot holes.

Can anyone shed some light on where to look or maybe install the rivit as im going to pull the lot out this weekend and buy a rivit gun but dont know where it goes (any pics would help!).

Also what on earth could rattle in the roof lining? Sounds like a plastic noise?

ahhhhhhh help me its like chinese water torture

    thanks,

    L.

It is mate. Its a common fault for the boot catch to rattle.

ok theres been a breakthrough. The rattle was the parcel shelf took that out and it stopped,

I also removed the roof lining slightly in the left pillar there are loads of wires and some flat ribbon wires and also a big metal pipe? just wiggled this a bit as I didnt have time to fiddle and the creak has not completely gone but it has calmed down a bit wonder if its the whole pipe and loom thing moving?
