Default EGR and drilled blanking plate.

There's some old threads kicking around on the subject of drilled blanking plates but not anything up to date.

I just wondered what your experiences were/are -are you still using them, how many miles you've covered with a drilled plate, pros & cons etc, etc..

Having fitted one with 2 x 8mm holes yesterday, the EGR chatter and whoosing has stopped, along with my misfire. Will have to suffice until stealer can check for updated EGR software .

I made it out of 2mm thick aluminium plate. Others, in the early days, made it out of a flattened Pepsi tin (they said Pepsi cans were slightly thicker, certainly not 2mm).

Celes (above) also made one I believe. If you're not in a rush, I could cut a blank one out for you in the new year, then you could just drill the centre holes to suit what you think. I use a jig saw so it won't be anything fancy but it'll do the job.

Mmm, I may look at doing one for my Z30DT, I'm going to get the car remapped but can't decide who or where but was thinking about doing this a while ago, along with cleaning out the inlet manifolds/piping etc.
Struggling to find the time at the minute and I use the car too much to take it off the road for a week while I do it.
GTR1000, why not post up a template of the plate you made, we'll ask it to be made into a sticky, again, it builds a good knowledge base.

Lee, I used the old metal gasket as a template for the new drilled plate. The new plate has to be the same dimensions as the old gasket as the bottom right hand corner is a tight fit against IIRC, the inlet manifold.

Below is a pic of the original gasket but it's hard for me to dimension up due to it being oval.
