what alternator do i need?

hi all
what alternator do i need for my 1.9 cdti 150bhp 2005 facelift, im thinking of getting a bosch one but unsure of part number and amps mine is etc? im getting battery light come up when driving today and battery is reading 12.20 engine off and 11.80 i think it was when running.

I think it's 100 amp mate I think I recall people buying the 120 amp one but it has to be genuine Vx one as the Cdti don't like after Market ones I think just had this problem and was causing bad mpg

Genuine one mate there are 2 types with trade club the most expensive one is £156 + vat as I have just had to do mine last week. The full CANBUS cars are apparently very sensitive to after market ones some folks have had issues but you might be fine, expensive risk though, changing them is strainght forward as well about 1 hour.

How many AMPs you need depends not only on the engine model but also how much equipment your car has fitted at the factory.

the ampage is stamped on the alt itself... my elite has a denso 120amp

Its a bit hard to see while its still on, will pop to vxl in the morning and find out, but at a guess i think it is the 100 amp one.
