About 10 years ago I wanted a TV. The salesperson in the store came on so strong to buy their extended warranty that I walked out.

I will tell them to back off even if it means a row.

Just be careful though not to go winding them up, what I mean is... window shopping & taking test drives etc.

Its tough out there at the moment and people will lose their jobs over 'lost sales'...

It's like that in mobile phone shops it's really bad as soon as you walk in they pounce

Tell them your pockets are empty. Usually they loose interest after that oddly enough.

I've had the exact opposite lately! Wife wanted a new car so off around the local stealers we went. Pain in the arse as it seems the newest sales pitch is to totally ignore you! Went round half a dozen dealers and not once did a salesman approach us.

    It was quite surreal TBH!

I had this last weekend in a Land Rover dealer. was in there looking at the Freelander 2 and the new Range Rover Evoke.

Only two staff in the whole showroom. Receptionist asked if I needed help, I asked about pricing and a catalogue.

No catalogues and all pricing is online. Ha. Ok then.

Same thing happened years ago when I walked into the Mercedes showroom, totally ignored, so I went to BMW (who were very helpful) and spend £32k on a new BMW.

    boils my blood sometimes

I love using the 'keywords' when winding salesmen up. I can spot the 'sell' a mile off and have never (so far) been reeled in.

I have found recently that the sales people I deal with be it cars tv's laptops almost all products in fact, I have more in depth knowledge than them!

Especially cars I have been in technical sales for well over 23 years and adore playing their dumb games then with a simple sentence I use, it slay's them in there step LMAO

Same happened to me, even when I went to test drive a new range rover sport at the local LR dealers, after the test drive the sales guy got out and more or less said, okay, well you've had your test drive, see ya and went to walk off, it was only when I said i'd like to talk optional extras that he realised i was actually serious about buying...

Maybe they've all been getting a lot of time wasters lately

I once got "persuaded" shall we say, to buy a £2 raffle ticket in a shopping centre by a really fit bird with one hell of a nice smile. Other than that, never given in to sales pressure, it comes down to force of personality, some people are more easilly swayed than others.
