I'm thinking about getting one but at around £50 ish they are not cheap. Are they worth the premium over Pipercross or K&N? Wondering if my 2.2 direct would benefit much from one, along with the airbox mod.

To be honest I have noticed a little difference like quicker pick up and better running although I'm not sure if it would be any better over pipercross or k&n without trying them I think they would all be the same tbh

I used to have the k&n panel filter, only thing i noticed was reduced mpg. May have increased bhp by 2 but nothing i'd notice.

I have ran all three K&N, Green and Pipercross in various cars.

I prefer the pipercross ones as they require less oil spray than the cotton ones - so less likely to cover the MAF if over oiled etc.

Although I have personally never had any issues with any of the brands, I have heard stories from my VAG days of the K&Ns being over oiled and causing MAF issues with Fabia VRS cars (which is what i had it on also).

i went for a pipercross foam filter in the end and now have them fitted to both cars. Some will always have their favourites and stand by their purchase but from when i was reading up on them the cotton filters require more cleaning than a foam filter, ven as much as three times more often to keep them working as they are supposed to do. As long as you clean them they will be fine no matter what aftermarket highflow filter you buy..
