Default Any Conveyancing People on Here?

Selling my house and had a letter from my Solicitor.

They want £35 to cover the cost of obtaining official documents from the land registry. These are to be forwarded to the buyers solicitors.

My question is why do i have to pay for this?

Surely this cost should be borne by the buyers not sellers.

When i was buying my last house (which fell though). I had to purchase all the relevant last registry stuff, we werent just given it for free

    Anyone had experience of this?

Who are you trying to contact, I have a ouija board here?

From what i recall when my dad bought (or as most people on here say, brought) his last house it was down to him to foot the bill
Plasma's Tech2 services are now open and able to provide services

Lol, i need a conveyancer not a clairvoyant

    thanks for the reply.

I phoned them up and they started giving it "yeah i've been in the business 10 years so i should know!" sort of attitude.

I thought it was funny but could not find anything online

The thieving bandits would charge you for the air you breathe if they thought you could get away with it. Last time I bought a house I was amazed at what I was charged for. Taxi's, phone calls and letters to name a few.
    3.2 v6 Signum and loving it 😁

Maybe different up here in Scotland but the only fee's I remember paying for the new house were for the survey (£200ish), sure the documents from the land registry came as part of the survey.

Agreed, the buyer would normally pay this in Scotland (£200 for a survey, that is way too expensive! Plus there are loads of fees, perhaps your solicitor hid them amongst their fee, which they are not supposed to do. The latest purchase I made cost me near on £1200 in other costs)

However, this house sale is in England
I believe HIPS requires this cost to be covered by the Seller
