    Default 265 35 20

Anyone tyre the above tyre size on an insignia or know if it will fit ok? I am running 245 35 20 curretly but have been offered a very cheap set of 265 35 20 for the front.

Ive had a 255 35 20 as a temp tyre for a week while I waited for a 245 to come in and that fitted fine, to be honest it didnt look all that different to a 245 mate

well i got 265 35 18 on some 9.5" wide alloys & they look nice & square on the wheel,

what width alloy is yours at the mo , do the 245 look square or got a slight stretch look,

also if dont catch on inner arch now then may do if put the 265's on

As you're not reducing the profile but you're increasing the width, they'll have a bigger circumference than the correct tyre.

guys you will not believe this, I gut the size wrong the new tyres are 255 40 20 not 265 35 20.

Feel like a right lemon, anyways, will they be ok? as in rubbing on archs

could be ok , unfortunatly may be a trial & error process,

also looks like not many have fitted 20's to the insignia

not trying to be funny but you understand what the numbers mean on the tyres ie 255 is width in mm , the 40 is the percentage of the width of the tyre which equals the height of the tyre wall so 40% of 255 is102mm , then the last number is size of wheel it fits on

Tbh i think they will be too big and look bigger too also look funny compared to the rear having the standard 245/35/20 on them

this tyre size calculator is useful
    http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
    so, as you can see:
    • 245/35/20 diameter 679.5mm, revs/km 468
    • 255/40/20 diamter 712.0mm, revs/km 447

    That's a noticeable difference in diameter: +32.5mm (1.2 inches).
It will definitely cause the speedo readings to be wrong; it will under read by 3 mph -- which isn't good news when there's speed cameras about.
