    Default Garage Floor tiles

I've got the option to replace the old carpet that's on the floor of my garage for some Heavy Duty interlocking floor tiles. Been given around half, so obviously have half the outlay I expected. (about £220 to pay)

    http://www.trudec.com/html/heavy_duty_system.html

Is it worth swapping it all over. Garage is dry, so don't have an issue with water logged/damp carpets. Also has a flat concrete floor so have not issues with uneven tiles etc.

Anyone got a tiled garage floor? Worth having? or not?

    Discuss.

I used Industrial Exhibition Tiles which look like carpet but can also handle 30,000 people per day walking on them (including vehicles).

Got them off a mate for free. But they would probably be available on eBay if you looked.

They've been great and very resistant to the car tyres.

However, when I get some money I'm having porcelain tiles put in the garage (showroom tiles) as they can be easily washed down.

Tiles are a good idea Keeps it very tidy and dust free

These are industrial tiles, can have (and have) large forklifts running over them.

Won't really be fitting them until spring, as i'll be empting everything floor level out, sealing the concrete (just to ensure it's dust free) then laying the tiles.

    Sounds like a plan

You just need some halogen spot lights in there now to really brighten up the paintwork

Thats what I was going to do originally, but hot rubber tyres shrink when they go cold and pinch the paint... over a short time they lift up the paint and it looks messy very quickly,

Also, scrubbing your front wheels from left to right (steering in in out) lifts the paint as well.

I'd like to get some proper porcelain showroom tiles in mine as they are hardwearing, smart and easy to clean

Plus paint doesn't insulate as well as a covering like carpet or tiles.
