    Default Windscreen doomed?

After some night driving, the day after i went to the hand carwash i noticed a strange light flare effect on the windscreen. On closer inspection there appeared a mottled/ tortoise shell pattern on the outside. I've tried to get rid of the 'film' with all sorts of stuff. Washing, neat screen wash etc. The light flaring is now getting worse, and what's more it's starting to appear that the wipers are now scratching the windscreen. I can't tell weather it's just scratching away at the film though. Any thoughts?

Simple rule here, don't use unauthorised car cleaning agents (advertised as hand car wash), use only a reputable agent with water recycling units (recognised by the water traps under the centre of the vehicle)
They've probably been using recycled water and dirty sponges

    Clean the windscreen wipers
If they are excessively dirty, remove them and run them under a tap

Check the windscreen wipers for excessive wear, replace if required (always replace both)

Prepare the windscreen using Clear X

Bought new wipers mate. It's the light flare i cant do with, need to get rid of whatever it is that's welded itself to the windscreen. Was hoping for a frost this morning so i could give it a good ol' scrape. Do you think clear x will do the job?

Get yourself a mild glass abrasive polish mate, they can be used by machine or by hand.

Pop in Halfords and buy a small can of thinners and carefully clean the screen, watch the paintwork!
