Default Huawei E585 MIFI mains charger rating

Does anyone know the default rating for the mains charger?

Just bought a 2nd hand E585 from Ebay which didn't originally come with the mains charger, but the seller has thrown one in as part of the deal. Trouble is it's not a genuine Huawei charger. It's rated at 5 volt, 1000 mA, but I want to know what the genuine charger is rated at before I zap the E585 by putting it on to charge.

The CE marking on the charger isn't the correct one either. It's the China Export marking and not "Conformité Européenne" so I'm reluctant to use it anyway.

So, no one on here uses a MIFI device then?

Have a look at this site mate . .http://www.modem3g.com/e585-router-p-56.html

    Shows D.C. as 5.3V and 650mAh

Also found this on ebay . . http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAINS-CHAR...-/320655100613

Cheers for that. I have reason to suspect the one you mention in your ebay link doesn't conform to CE standard. Just because it might have a CE label on it, half the time the label is wrong and it's the China Export meaning. Unless you know what you're looking for, then it's not always obvious.

The Chinese copy charger the seller gave me is very Mickey Mouse.

Same one on Amazon being sold with loads of negative comments - melting, exploding, catching fire, etc.

Being an approved PAT tester I geve it a thorough going over last night. The neutral pin is stightly bent, the CE marking is clearly wrong, but worst of all when I grabbed both halves of the charger and simulated pulling it from a mains socket, it fell apart in my hands. Have emailed the ebay seller expressing my anger at being given such a dangerous and faulty electrical item. I shan't give him negative feedback though as the charger wasn't part of the original sale, but thrown in as a goodwill gesture.
