    Default Terrible Headlights!

I just drove my car in heavy rain in the dark for the first time since ive had it...what an experience! The lights are soooo dim that i had to crawl along the road and peer out over the steering wheel. I actualy had to check i hadn't just put on my sidelights by mistake! I presume i must have the standard bulbs. My last car had some of those osram night breakers and they were brilliant.

    Next purchase, new bulbs!!

Even with NB they are still crap, i've fitted Hid's (yes i might get fined, but who cares)

Might be better with asking on the forum whats better NB's or hids, Rather than being disapointed

I think i may have to get some osrams as a short term fix then look at upgrading to HID/xenon type headlights sometime in the near future! I defo cant put up with the light situation the way it is now! Is it just a case of buying a kit for this or do i need to swap over the whole headlamp unit? Is this an expensive mod? If its quite expensive i may have to wait until xmas has passed!

Is this just a case of poor design, the lights just dont seem to project the light onto the road! But when i stand infront of the car and look at the lights they look very bright, wierd!

Just a kit but get a good quality one.

Go for 4300k and a 35w kit to avoid being pulled.

The above looks factory fitted; I have never been stopped with mine fitted and I've had them in 4 cars now (same kit swapped from car to car).

The law really is an ass when it comes to this; it is fine that we can't see where we are going though!

That's a good kit from a good supplier.

It's a CANBUS compatible kit too, meaning that you don't get the strobing lights and an error light come up on the dash.

Nice one I think this is the way forward for me then! Ive just read the other thread about the hid's being illegal and all that but sod it, I need to see where im going!! What a ridiculous law, I cant see why they dont just ban the ultra powerfull ones, say from 10k upwards! 4.5 to 6k should be safe for oncoming traffic from what I can make out.
    Cheers tho

Before you go HiD, do the mod to raise the headlight aim ( think it's listed as "a kind of fix for poor preface dip beam"), then fit decent bulbs. Makes a world of difference and it's entirely lega. My own eyesights not the best at night, and my first night trip in the Vec had me worried, but with the dip beam height raised and better bulbs, nno problem.l
