Default Brake light warning message on display

    Hi all,

    Have a vectra c 57 plate.

On the display it says brakelight, have checked all the lights and have even replaced all the bulbs, still the warning comes up.Has anyone any idea why i`m still getting this message and how to clear it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Double check the rear bulbs.

There are 2 tail light bulbs on each side of the car. The upper one is also the brake light. Should the upper bulb fail, the lower bulb takes over the role of tail / brake light.

Rear light positions (from the top down)

    Indicators
    Tail & brake lights
Tail lights (which then becomes a brake light as well should the original tail/brake light fail)
Fog light (drivers side only - UK)
    Reverse lights.

All bulbs are 21 watt single filament bulbs.

As big dave said mate most new veccy's have the secondary brake light systems built in.

Test the wiring into the back of the lights as loose connections are a problem due to the bad potholes we sometimes hit. I had this problem and i used to just hit the light and it came back on and stopped the messages , until i then found a loose connection and simply secured it.

    Hope this helps mate
